Ars86care in Audience with Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection

Ars86care board in audience with Ms Linda Amalia Sari, Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection became a media to meet and greet between national authority and civil society community with similar vision in children’s right fulfillment. Sharing similar vision, under Children Growth and Development Deputy of Ministry of Women Empowerment and Children Protection, ars86care’s program places children as main stakeholders.  

 

Several projects have been done by ars86care spreading gradually from awareness building under Words to Share program, infrastructure and physical development under Space to Build program, followed by capacity building under Value to Do program.

 

Words to Share program is started by creating Child Friendly Communication – Information - Educative Material in the form of My City Children Picture Book entitled (1) About Street and Circulation, (2) About Home, (3) About Play Space, (4) About School, (5) About Sport Space, as media to build public awareness on spaces for children in the city, enriched by urban ethic content.

           

Ars86care has been supporting Minister of Women Empowerment and Children Protection yearly by participating in Children Fair conducted by Bobo Children magazine in providing Communication Information Educative material. Ars86care displayed and promoted My City Children Picture Books in which one book entitled Play Space has been endorsed by the Minister, reprinted and distributed to authorities under Child Friendly Cities and Municipalities. Ars86care also support 200 exemplar My City Children Books entitled About School and About Sport Space to be distributed to Child Friendly Cities and Municipalities Authority throughout Indonesia.

 

Another program under Words to Share to support Ministry of Women Empowerment and Children Protection under Child Friendly Cities and Municipalities Program was a research on Child Friendly City Physical Development and Infrastructure Guidelines. Ars86care developed Child Oriented Development to build Child Friendly awareness to urban designer and urban planner, to include Children’s Right fulfillment specifically by incorporating Spaces for Children at the time planner and designer drew the city structures on papers. One of ars86care team was also appointed as Child Friendly City Evaluation Team in 2012, to rank 100 cities and municipalities based on 31 indicators developed by the team, in order to implement Child Friendly Cities and Municipalities frameworks.

 

“Child Oriented Development” was also tested in public and presented at Child in the City International Conferences Zagreb Croatia in 2012, and Child Friendly Asia Pacific at Kathmandu Nepal in 2013. In local level, “Child Oriented Development” was presented at province’s authority level in East Kalimantan as well as city’s authority level in Denpasar, Bali.

 

Ars86care current main program Space to Build, aimed Village Kindergarten development to raise quality enhancement in Early Childhood Education School Infrastructure Development, by applying Child Friendly School concept in physical or infrastructure development. Five schools had been renovated benefitting approximately 200 children in five villages in Demak and Grobogan regencies about an hour from Semarang city, the capital of Central Java, Indonesia. Children participation were also become part of the plan in every phase of the program, started from the assessment, during construction phase, and Monitoring and evaluation phase. Community and local authority involvement were also placed as priority so that the development could find its sustainability [MW].

 

Ars86care foundation started with a group of Indonesian architects who were concerned about the environment and wanted to improve environment quality as legacy for their children. Ars86care is a registered foundation for children, the environment, and education, with three main programs, including Space to Build, Words to Share, and Value to Do. The mission of ars86care foundation is to promote and to create high quality, child-friendly living spaces in order to achieve a better quality of life for the children, who are the future of Indonesia. The group has worked with over 1,000 volunteers sinceit’s establishment in 2007.
