Media Release Volunteering Event 2015

English

On the 5th of December ars86care Foundation will have a Volunteering Event located in the area of Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta. Our mission is to create and promote Child Friendly Spaces, and through this event we will showcase our result. Having this mission, we deliver our result through one of our program that helps to re-build and renovate preschools across the West of Java in order to achieve Child Friendly School and community. With the help of our Donors we thrive to hand in hand reach our main goal.

The Event itself is done annually, as much as twice a year. The objective of this event is to introduce Donor to the children and the community area that they have helped to build. In addition to that, this event also becomes a platform to officially announce the new school. Many activities will be held throughout the event. The activities will help engage the children and Donors. Through this, we hope that the Donors and Beneficiaries both equally feel the benefit of this project.

VOLUNTARY EVENT 2015 HIGHLIGHT

This event involves two schools in the area of Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta. One is TK PKK Blekonang located in Tepus Village, and the other one is TK PKK Gerotan located in Purwodadi Village, but the event itself will take place in the first school location. Both schools are funded by Credit Suisse in a form of grant. Meanwhile our other Donor, Nexans Foundation help funded the school’s green features, such as solar panel, water reservoir, recycling bin and vertical garden.

Village Officials, as well as our Donor will be attending this event. As much as fifty volunteers from Credit Suisse Singapore and Jakarta offices will take part. During the event, several activities will be designed to engage all the volunteers with the children from both schools. We start with dividing the volunteers and the children into several large groups and let them compete in several Indonesia’s traditional games. One activity in particular is a unique tradition from ars86are which happened in every Volunteering Event. Every participants, including children, volunteers, and even teachers will have their hand print on one side of the school’s wall using paint. This symbolizes unity between the Donors and children under the school area that they are in.

Ars86care is also very active in promoting green living and the importance of it. We carry this idea by asking the volunteers to help the school build their own vertical garden. Along with that, we also ask them to plant trees and make biopori holes to increase water absorption, to further continue with the green living concept. Other activity which supports this idea is, painting trash bin that later can be used to separate recyclable trash.

By involving our Donor in this event, we hope for them to see just how much they gave to the children and the community and just how much the community and children appreciate it. This event, gives a chance for them to interact and understand one another. The importance of our mission is to create these safe spaces for the children to learn and play. We hope to continue our mission for years to come.
